JMS were chosen by Aberdeenshire council to retexture various HRA and SD asphalt road areas to increase the skid resistance of the investigated carriageway areas.
Within this scope of works, JMS were to provide traffic management and carry out pre-and post-testing via sand patch testing to measure texture depth and micro-grip testing, which measures the micro-texture of the carriageway. Surveys were carried out to determine the correct retexturing processes for the individual sites.
10,000m2 was retextured using high pressure water and 19,000m2 was carried out using captive shot blasting process. As the works were carried out in winter, JMS utilised our Jet Surface Dryer to keep the project running through wet weather. Upon completion of the works, all test results were forwarded to the client and showed increase of texture across all sites completed..
