BRIEF
Dublin Swift is a high-speed catamaran built in 2001 by Austal Ltd. of Henderson, Western Australia as a Maritime Prepositioning ship. The vessel was charted to the United States Marine Corps Military Sealift Command, until January 2018 as Westpac Express. Irish Continental Group bought the ship in 2016 and was renamed the Dublin Swift after famous Irish author Jonathan Swift.
The Swift’s main function is to transport pedestrians to and from Ireland in a quick manner.
Two new aluminium decks were installed with the need of anti-skid to safely transport vehicles without slipping.

PROJECT

All plant and materials had to be lifted on prior to the works. Aluminium is uncommon in the marine world with most decks being steel, so extra care was taken for the deck preparation with the deck receiving captive blasting treatment to key up the surface with alternative grinding discs for edge work.

Outcome

The whole project was completed successfully in two long days with a new working surface for years to come for our client.
The ramp remained operational throughout with the speed of preparation and application by JMS being the factor in a successful project.
