Project - Rosslare Port

Berth 2 - Feb 2019

Bimagrip LS Anti-slip and Waterproofing System
Acraprime & Emery Bauxite

BRIEF
First developed in 1906 by the Great Western Railway and the Great Southern and Western Railway to accommodate steam ferry traffic between Great Britain and Ireland, JMS Marine were chosen to carry out refurbishment works to one of the berth link spans currently without any anti-skid properties needing a safe working surface.

PROJECT

Initially the project was marred with unforeseen bad weather which delayed productivity of operatives. After the weather problems had subsided, all systems were go to make up for last time. JMS trained operatives prepared the deck to an SA2.5 standard by method of captive and open blasting due to access and chevrons so close to the water edge.

Deck was primed immediately after blasting treatment to protect the steel work from corrosion. Once cured, Bimagrip LS was installed to each designated section before moving on to the next working area keeping the span operational throughout for normal cargo operations.

Outcome

JMS Lincoln are delighted to have contributed to the history of Rosslare Port with another successful turn-key marine project. The project was challenging at times with some bad weather and the consideration of traffic during our works. The works were carefully scheduled to ensure no area was trafficked too soon with early or afternoon applications to ensure resin application was cured with enough time, any loose aggregates were also swept before trafficking. The skill & knowledge of JMS operatives to perform surface preparation and resin applications in-house, ensures greater productivity throughout and higher quality of work. 510sqm was completed in-between continuing Port operations with a successful new guaranteed anti-skid surface for Rosslare Port.

Be the best and do it right first time.
